“Bayou St. John” named one of Bill Bentley’s Favorite Albums of 2023!

Gregg Hill began writing songs in seventh grade, but he never really thought of himself as a performer — until he moved to New Orleans. Inspired by the Big Easy and other artists who call it home, Hill embarked on yet another new chapter in a life that has contained many, honing his live-audience entertaining skills — while forging relationships with those artists. The singer, guitarist and pianist then recruited two of the city’s finest — bassist/vocalist Roland Guerin and drummer Doug Belotte — as the rhythm section for his latest album, Bayou St. John, released in September 2023.

There is sometimes a singer-songwriter who has eluded the spotlight. They write and sing moving songs of beauty and depth, but don’t get recognized as much as they should. Gregg Hill’s new album BAYOU ST. JOHN should be a collection of songs that brings him fully into the public’s appreciation.

This skilled musician, alongside his expert fretwork, makes it all sound so natural. That sums up this whole collection — natural — and it makes for essential listening for those that appreciate clean, uncluttered music created by a master craftsman.
